AU SUMMIT OPENS TODAY

Uganda is lucky to hold the AU conference this month.The long waited Special African Union Summit has opened today morning October 19th 2009at Common Wealth Resort Beach hotel Kampala. Its expected to end on the 23rd.of this month.

The present heads of states and other delegates are from Kenya, Uganda, South Africa, Ghana, Mozambique, Somalia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana and Tanzania among other countries.

The summit is running under the theme “African Union addressing the challenge of forced displacement in Africa”.

The summit is going to tackle the root causes of Internally Displaced People in Africa.

The African continent is assumed to have about 17 million Internally Displaced People and refugees.
The summit is expected to find out solutions which will curb the growing number of refugees and Internally Displaced People in Africa.
