UGANDA TO HOLD AFRICA UNION [AU] SUMMIT ON REFUGEES NEXT WEEK


Uganda is preparing for a special summit of heads of state and Government of the African Union [AU] on refugees, returnees and internally displaced persons in Africa which will take place on the 19th-23rd October 2009 at Munyonyo Resort Hotel Kampala.
The theme of the summit is “African Union addressing the challenge of forced displacement in Africa.”19 heads of state are expected to attend the summit including the wanted Omar el-Bashir the president of Sudan by the Hague-based International Criminal Court over war crimes and crimes against humanity in Darfur.
Uganda has got the biggest percentage of refugees in Africa, coming from DRC, Sudan, Somalia and Rwanda.
