Uganda has many islands located on its lakes and the easiest way to get to the islands is by use of a ferry. Anew ferry was brought in the country by the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) at 6.5billion shillings to ease transport on Lake Kyoga.
The spokesman of the authority said the ship carries 12 cars, 120 tons of cargo, 70 passengers and will be operating on the Nakasongola-Namasale route, in Soroti, Amolatar, Dokolo districts, this will Tourists movement easy.
The vessel was brought in by the Danish industry Johs Gram Hassen, Dan Alinange and the government is planning to buy more ferries so that transport on the lakes is improved.
The president of Uganda H.E Yoweri Museveni said during his visit to Kalangala that there will be free ferry transport services but will be payments for the MV Kalangala.
