Kibale National Park Uganda for chimpanzee trekking


Kibale national park has one of the richest ecosystems in the whole of Africa. It contains over 340 birds species, 14 species of snakes, 27 species of frogs and toads, at least 20 species of other reptiles and at least 200 species of butterflies. Other animals to be seen here include: chimpanzee, elephant, bush pig, giant forest hog, bats and rodents, etc.
primates combined with easy access, a good infrastructure and a variety of interesting Activities make this forest ideal for primate watching safaris to Uganda. The park hosts a population of more than 1,000 chimpanzees, of which one 80-strong community has been habituated to tourist visits, as well as half-a-dozen readily observed monkey species, including the acrobatic red colobus and black-and-white colobus, and the handsome L’Hoest’s monkey.
The area is mainly occupied by two tribes i.e. Batooro and Bakiga traditionally both tribes utilise the forest for food, fuel, building materials and medicines.
