Cuckooland lodge is a new mid-range tented lodge set in a spectacular location on the eastern edge of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, with superb views overlooking the forest.
It is Set in 10 acres of grounds, built almost entirely of locally sourced natural materials, accommodation consists of 4 self-contained, spacious, comfortably furnished double tents, built on wooden platforms and with a thatched roof and large verandah.
6 species of primates including chimpanzees are regularly seen at the site and almost 200 bird species have so far been recorded.
Instead of paying $300-$500 p night as most of the up-market lodges charge in Buhoma, Cuckooland aims to offer comparable facilities for around $100 p person p night full-board and $70 p person p night for bed & breakfast.
Cuckooland lodge is planned to open from the beginning of April 2011, while construction of a swimming pool and gym is planned for later in the year.
