AirAsia has asked its customers to be wary of an online lottery scam which purportedly uses the airline’s name to solicit personal information from victims.
The e-mail scam, which has been circulating since 2011, targets Sabahans and would inform the recipients that they had won an exclusive special bonus programme from AirAsia.
The e-mail specifically asks recipients to include information like their name, address, occupation and telephone number.
AirAsia Group legal head Amir Faezal Zakaria, who lodged a police report yesterday, said the airline does not engage any third party to organise contests or make announcements on its behalf.
Amir Faezal also warned of individuals posing as AirAsia -representatives offering seat ¬tickets which were way below their actual prices.
